On Friday November 22, New Museum enthusiasts and twins Ariana and Sasha came to see “Chris Burden: Extreme Measures” and took some photos. Here are some highlights of their trip!
Ariana: Hi! I’m six and one quarter and I like horses, learning, and big cats. Sasha: I’m one minute older than my sister and I like Legos, roller coasters, and nothing.
Sasha and Ariana on Chris Burden’s The Big Wheel, 1979
Ariana: I like it because it looks like a wheel spinning cotton candy. Sasha: It looks really heavy like sixteen. No, thirteen pounds.
Sasha and Ariana on Chris Burden’s bridges on the Third Floor
Ariana: I think it has two thousand pieces. Sasha: It has one million.
Sasha and Ariana on Chris Burden’s A Tale of Two Cities, 1981
Sasha: I have that shell! The mountains are my favorite, are they real? Ariana: I like the little town better. Sasha, did you see the golden bullets? Sasha: No! Where are they?!
Ariana on Chris Burden’s Beehive Bunker, 2006
Ariana: Look at the tiny house! I don’t like it because it’s made out of concrete and they’re dirty.
Sasha on Chris Burden’s 1 Ton Truck, 2009
Sasha: I like the bottom because that’s where the engines are.
Sasha and Ariana share their favorite pieces in “Chris Burden: Extreme Measures”
Ariana: I liked the police outfits the best because it looks real. Sasha: The ghost ship because it goes without anyone driving it and it’s very cool and ghosty.
New Museum: If you were an artist at the New Museum what would you make?
Sasha: I would make a car as big as the earth! Ariana: I would make a dress…a ball uniform! Sasha: Clothes is boring. Ariana: Yeah, but they do help people anyway.
Thanks Ariana and Sasha for sharing your visit with us!. The Second and Fourth Floors of “Chris Burden: Extreme Measures” are still open. And, many family guides are still available at the Visitor Services Desk!
